Graphic Designer Volunteer

The BC Chapter of Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS-BC) is seeking a volunteer Graphic Designer. The successful candidate will assist the CPAWS-BC terrestrial campaign team achieve important goals by creating effective graphics for online and print content. Specific attention will be given to the creation of infographics to promote campaign objectives online.

Qualifications:

  • Experience and knowledge of design software (e.g. Adobe Illustrator, InDesign etc.) and the ability to create compelling infographics
  • Ability to work independently but in close cooperation with CPAWS-BC staff
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Passion for protection BC’s wilderness

Deliverables and Duties:

The successful candidate will work with CPAWS-BC staff to create graphics, especially infographics, to promote CPAWS-BC’s terrestrial campaigns. Graphics will be used primarily online, but may also be developed for printed materials and outreach initiatives.

This position is excellent experience for Graphic Design, Media Studies, Communications, or Environmental Studies students with an interest in working in an environmental field, as well as anyone with a passion for protecting B.C.’s wilderness and oceans.

Volunteers are highly valued members of the CPAWS-BC team and can make a significant difference in protecting B.C.’s wilderness for future generations, while increasing their knowledge of conservation campaigns.


Time period:

The successful candidate will begin working with the terrestrial campaign team before the end of June, 2017. The candidate is expected to commit a minimum of 20 hours of work during June and July, with the option to extend hours to assist with design needs in other campaigns.

Volunteer meetings are hosted on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. Volunteers are encouraged to attend these meetings in order to build your network of likeminded individuals, and learn more about CPAWS-BC campaigns.
