Video Editing Volunteer

The BC Chapter of Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS-BC) is seeking a volunteer Video Editor. The successful candidate will assist the CPAWS-BC terrestrial campaign team edit raw video footage to create compelling media that will be used across CPAWS-BC online channels for grizzly bear conservation efforts.


  • Experience and knowledge of video editing software
  • Ability to work independently but in close cooperation with CPAWS-BC staff
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Passion for protection BC’s wilderness

Deliverables and Duties:

The successful candidate will work with CPAWS-BC staff to edit raw video footage, as well as purchased footage, to create compelling content to assist with the terrestrial team's grizzly bear conservation initiative. The volunteer will create two videos from the footage: a 3-5 minute summary video, and a 20 second highlight reel. Work may take place remotely.

This position is excellent experience for Media Studies, Communications, or Environmental Studies students with an interest in working in an environmental field, as well as anyone with a passion for protecting B.C.’s wilderness and oceans.

Volunteers are highly valued members of the CPAWS-BC team and can make a significant difference in protecting B.C.’s wilderness for future generations, while increasing their knowledge of conservation campaigns.

Time period:

The successful candidate will begin working with the terrestrial campaign team before the end of June, 2017. The expected completion of the project is late July or early August, depending on the volunteer's schedule.

Volunteer meetings are hosted on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. Volunteers are encouraged to attend these meetings in order to build your network of likeminded individuals, and learn more about CPAWS-BC campaigns.
