Wild Ambassador Event: Expedition to St. Marks Summit
Please note the date for this event is tentative and will be finalized in April.
Join Kieran, Wild Ambassador on a day hike along the first section of the Howe Sound Crest Trail, starting from Cypress Provincial Park and hiking to St. Marks Summit.
This is a 10 km round trip and will take about 5-6 hours including a break for lunch and viewing the Howe Sound and surrounding mountains at St. Marks Summit. The total elevation gain is just 460 meters with some sections of switchbacks, rising through the Coastal Western Hemlock and Subalpine Mountain Hemlock forest zones. We will be pointing out various features along the trail, including trees, viewpoints, and some local history and any other information we can provide. This is a spectacular hike for beginners and grizzled mountaineers alike, and we encourage curious hikers-to-be to come and check us out. Hikers should be capable of walking 10 kilometres with a small backpack and personal supplies, including a food and water. This trail is not suitable for young children due to its length but well behaved dogs on leash are permitted.
When: May 14, 2016
Time: 9 am - 3 pm
Where: Cypress Mountain Provincial Park
