A National Park Reserve has been underway in the endangered grasslands of the South Okanagan-Similkameen for over two decades. It would protect the hundreds of species at risk facing threats to their survival from habitat loss and degradation.
Canada, British Columbia and the syilx/Okanagan Nation have been negotiating details for the last five years, but an establishment agreement still hasn’t been announced. With a newly elected provincial government and a federal election looming, there has never been a more important time to finally finish what’s been started.
A National Park Reserve would bolster tourism, protect wildlife and fragile ecosystems, and deliver more boots on the ground to manage threats like wildfires and illegal activity. Send a letter to urge the government to immediately finalize the establishment agreement for the South Okanagan-Similkameen National Park Reserve and protect this endangered ecosystem and the animals that call it home!
Establish the South Okanagan-Similkameen National Park Reserve!
