Salmon Parks Documentary Premiere

An Indigenous-led resource management plan by the Mowachaht/Muchalaht, Nuchatlaht and Eha to recover key watersheds and restore wild salmon.

The documentary premiere of “Salmon Parks” by award-winning filmmaker Carter Kirilenko is hosted by BC Culture Days in collaboration with Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society – British Columbia (CPAWS-BC). This film explores the “Salmon Parks” restoration plan led by Uu-a-thluk, an aquatic resource management department of The Nuu-Chah-Nulth Tribal Council, to recover key watersheds and restore wild Salmon in the Mowachaht/Muchalaht, Nuchatlaht and Ehattesaht First Nations. This event will connect storytellers, activists, policymakers and environmental campaigners from British Columbia to discuss how the decline in wild salmon should be addressed through Indigenous-led resource management. The film screening aims to help gain recognition of Salmon Parks by the Provincial Government of British Columbia.
