• What are CPAWS and CPAWS-BC?

  The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (known as CPAWS) is Canada’s only nationwide charity dedicated solely to the protection of our public land and water. CPAWS is comprised of 13 community-based chapter offices from Yukon to Newfoundland, and a national office located in Ottawa.

  The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society – British Columbia (known as CPAWS-BC) is the BC-based chapter of CPAWS. CPAWS-BC maintains an office in Vancouver with more than 10 staff, as well as several staff working elsewhere in the province, all of whom are dedicated full-time to the protection of nature in British Columbia.

• When I donate to CPAWS, how is my money used?

  CPAWS-BC is the British Columbia chapter of CPAWS, a national organization made up of 13 individual chapters located across the country.

  When you give to CPAWS-BC (online through cpawsbc.org), your gifts are put to work here in British Columbia, to the area of greatest need. Your donations ensure that our expert staff can meet with First Nations and local communities to support conservation, conduct and review research, attend public meetings and advisory committees on protected areas and endangered species, create and distribute resources, and push government for legislated protection for our most threatened land and seascapes.

  When you give to CPAWS (online through cpawsbc.org), or by mailing a gift to or calling our National office), your gifts are used for work across Canada.

• What kind of donations does CPAWS accept?

  CPAWS-BC accepts gifts of cash, securities, and planned gifts (like bequests, annuities, and life insurance). You can choose to make a one-time gift, or support conservation year-round through automated monthly donations. If you are interested in making a gift-in-kind (by donating property, artwork, goods, etc.), please contact us so we can help make arrangements.

  CPAWS accepts gifts of cash, securities, and planned gifts. You can even recycle your vehicle through Donate A Car Canada and receive a tax receipt for the gift. Find out more at donatecar.ca

• Can I direct my gift to a particular region or campaign?

  Of course! If you would like to direct your donation to a specific campaign area or project, please include that information in the note section when making a gift online, mention it when you call to make a donation, or include a note with your request when mailing a cheque. Please contact us at donate@cpawsbc.org for more information.

• When will I receive my tax receipt?

  Monthly donors will receive their tax receipts for the previous year’s gifts in the mail during the first few months of the year.

  If you make a one-time gift of $20 or more online, you should receive a tax receipt immediately via email. If you do not receive it, please check your spam folder for an email with the subject “Thank you for donating.” If you require further assistance, please contact us at donate@cpawsbc.org

  If you make a one-time gift of $20 or more over the telephone or via mail, please allow up to three weeks to receive your tax receipt in the mail. If you do not receive it within that time frame, please let us know.

  If you make a one-time gift of less than $20, you can request a donation receipt by contacting us at donate@cpawsbc.org

• I lost my tax receipt. How can I replace it?
