The waters across the Southern Strait of Georgia in BC are home to the endangered Southern Resident killer whales and over 3,000 other species. More than just habitat for orcas, rockfish and glass sponge reefs, these waters are also a source of resources, transportation, recreation and inspiration for millions of people, whose health and well-being are intimately connected to the health of the ocean.

A National Marine Conservation Area in the Southern Strait of Georgia is being considered by 11 local First Nations and Parks Canada. This marine protected area will help ensure these waters remain abundant.
